Strikingly beautiful and featuring the largest commercially run rapids on the Yellowstone River, Yankee Jim Canyon is a fun-filled whitewater rafting experience suitable for all ages. Our whitewater trips are an exciting mix between family-friendly rapids, scenic vistas, and wildlife watching. On our whitewater trips our guests frequently see Bighorn Sheep, Elk, eagles and osprey and have even caught glimpses of bear and moose! Wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet and prepare yourself for a rollicking good time.

Half Day – Yellowstone Whitewater

Yankee Jim Canyon

On this seven mile float trip starting at the River Source river center, you will float through the scenic beauty and Class III rapids of Yankee Jim Canyon – the premier whitewater stretch of the Yellowstone River. The trip has three components- First, is a calm scenic stretch so you and your family can get acquainted with the guide, boat and paddling. The second part, is paddling through Yankee Jim Canyon (the best rapids on the river), and the third part of your journey is the cool down- a milder stretch of rapids where you can hop in the river, play rafting games, or just revel in the natural beauty surrounding you. Depending on river flows, this trip takes between two and three hours. $40 per person- Kids 12 and under $30′

  • We have launches from our base every hour starting at 9am- trips depart on the hour. Last departure 5:00pm
  • Trip meets at our base 8 miles North of Gardiner, MT on US HWY 89S- on the banks of the Yellowstone

Full Day – Yellowstone Whitewater

Gardiner to Carbella

Get out of town, get out of your car and RELAX on the river. This float is what your holiday is all about- set aside a full day of your vacation for a seventeen mile whitewater raft adventure down the Yellowstone River. Get here in the morning, meet your guide, get suited up for your days adventure and then head upstream to the launching point. You will hone your skills on multiple Class II-III rapids before stopping for a delicious deli-style lunch featuring local, organic produce, bread and deserts, and then the afternoon features an exciting descent of the Class III rapids of scenic and historic Yankee Jim Canyon.

  • Trip departs at 9:30 a.m.
  • Return to the office approx 3:00 to 4:00pm
